I think the soap works wonderfully. I use it to get stains out of clothing, especially ring around the collar; I love the feeling of being squeaky clean, so I even shower with it. I would give it 5 stars if it weren't for the price. $10 for this soap is a rip-off. I was so excited that I found it on Amazon first, that I immediately assumed that this was the best price. However, after doing a little research. This soap can be found as low as .99 cents. 1000% mark up is a little absurd.Want Octagon All Purpose Laundry Bar Soap by Colgate - 7 Oz Discount?
I bought this so I could have non-liquid soap in my suitcase to use for washing laundry. I like to pack in carry-on's so I can only have so much liquid. This is perfect and worked very well last week on my trip to mexico.Dove Beauty Bar, 4 Bars

Our baby daughter started suffering from either dermatitis or eczema when she was six months old just a red bumpy rash and unscented Dove was recommended by the pediatrician, pediatric dermatologist, and allergist. Unfortunately, they didn't know the manufacturer had changed the product formula. We really wish they had it would have saved her a year of terrible itching its new formula caused.A change in formula to Alimentum resulted in dramatic improvement after a milk allergy was diagnosed. However, small raised red patches and intense itching that caused frantic scratching to the point of bleeding soon became major issues; atypical eczema was diagnosed.
Treatment for almost a year was warm daily baths and unscented Dove, along with hydrocortisone 1% on spots and Cetaphil cream all over. Children's Zyrtec did not seem to alleviate the itching, although it did help her sleep. A visit to a dermatologist and a prescription for Calcitrene did not help either. Only a physical barrier footed PJs with both zippers and snaps, kept her from picking at her skin constantly.
And then one day, quite by accident, I used her unscented Dove. I suddenly found myself having intense itching as well. Could it be that my daughter was allergic to Dove? It did make sense as Dove was used directly on her exposed areas, arms and torso, and she had her most intense and frantic itching episodes after her bath. We discontinued Dove immediately and her intense itching subsided overnight.
What I didn't understand why I was suddenly was allergic to the new bars. After doing some research it turns out that Dove has discontinued the old Dove unscented bar along with the Dove for sensitive skin (the one with sweet almond oil itself an allergen) and combined them into one bar, Dove Unscented for Sensitive Skin. In so doing, it's changed its main surfuctant and other ingredients in other words, the Dove doctors have been recommended for years is no longer the same product.
An online search revealed complaints about itchiness and the new Dove. One website site in particular on the treatment of eczema has an enormous amount of information on detergents, soap and their effects on eczema especially the change in Dove soap. It no longer recommends it for eczema. Please see the comments section for more information.
Interestingly, itchiness and redness with the new formulation was brought up by a costumer in Dove's own website and no solution is given other than Customer Service's phone number. It has since been taken down.
I've also found some mentions of another Dove ingredient, "Sodium tallowate" tallow, sometimes derived from cattle as sometimes causing a reaction in people with milk allergies, causing flare ups in acne and eczema. Whether this too caused an allergic reaction in our daughter, I don't know.
We thought our case was isolated. However, it's possible that the skin problems related to the new Dove may be more widespread. I hope this information helps as this change was done quietly by the manufacturer.
We also found sweet almond oil in the Cetaphil cream she was prescribed an allergen for anyone with a tree nut allergy. We stopped using it later and the remaining red raised patches she had also diappeared. Other changes that were recommended including a change to Tide Free it didn't help my daughter but it healed my red, cracked hands, the result of doing laundry 2-3x a day with All Free.
Granted, individual reactions to products vary but the new ingredients in Dove may be causing allergies rather than helping them. None of the three doctors consulted knew of the formula change in Dove nor realized that the "Dove + cetaphil" combo they were recommending were causing the very symptoms (itching and rash) they were trying to treat. It's possible parents may just assume it's ongoing eczema, just like they did. It may not be.
UPDATE 5/27/13: Please see comments section for a list of recommended alternatives for soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, lotions, etc.

I'm blond haired, blue eyed and light skinned. If I am exposed to poison ivy, I end up in the Emergency Room. Most deodorants are too harsh for me and cause me to break out. It's hard to be a whoosy (a 1960's term) but I've learned how to live with it.I love this soap. It gets me clean after working in the yard and doesn't cause me any problems. I even use it to wash my hair and avoid the high costs of the expensive shampoos my wife uses. Give it a try. I really don't know why anyone would be disappointed with this product.
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Botanical Cleansing Bar with Tea Tree and Aloe
I really liked the soap and was happy to find it here in Amazon!
It does not dry your skin, it has a pleasant smell that is subtle not overpowering.
It cleans well.
Most importantly, it is hypoallergenic. I am a person who has very sensitive skin I get a bad rash with cheap soap (I am talking public bathroom soap). This soap is very gentle.
I think it has also helped clear my skin it is a long term beenfit of tea tree oil.
Yes, it is expensive, but it is a very good soap for those with sensitive skin.
I tried the Paul Mitchell soap. I didn't like it. It was not gentle and it formed a awful foam and left my skin feeling weird. The bar also went down faster than this one. (With this one you get a nice chunky block of soap).the kids got this with many other care packages for their dad for fathers day and he liked them all including this item.

I'm not sure if large pores is an accurate description, but a friend of mine has had 2 derm abrasion treatments, has tried the African soap sold on Amazon, and nothing has worked as well as this. I'm serious! Her pores are almost invisible after using this soap for a couple of months. Let me know if I'm right in a couple of months in the text comments. You can thank me later. Trust me, it works!Want Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Botanical Cleansing Bar with Tea Tree and Aloe Discount?

Yardley Of London antibacterial liquid hand soap, flowering english lavender - 16 Oz
Generally you'll find this same soap used in Outback Steakhouse bathrooms. I imagine they like it for the same reason I do -a soap *everyone* likes, pleasantly impressive without being overpowering. I absolutely adore this liquid soap. I used to be able to get it at a couple of local drugstores, but they've stopped carrying it. I was thrilled to find it online. The price of the soap is fine, but the shipping was a bit high. I'll probably still pay it, though, since I can't get the soap any other way.Yardley Of London Antibacterial Liquid Hand Soap, Flowering English Lavender 16 Oz

Yardley English Lavender Antibacterial Liquid Hand Soap is good quality, lathers decently, doesn't dry the skin, rinses well, and smells like true lavender. However, it does contain an antibacterial chemical, triclosan, which infection control experts say should not be used routinely and which may be harmful to the environment so I can only give it 4 stars. I really wish Yardley would remove the triclosan.
The best way to remove germs from your hands and prevent the spread of illness is to use warm water, lather well, and rub your hands together for at least twenty seconds to create plenty of friction.I discovered this soap in a ladies room at a restaurant and I was determined to find it to bring back to my home. The smell of lavender is irresistable!
