I'm not a crunchy hippie, and I don't go in for the naturalistic sales pitch, but this stuff is fantastic. It is a quality product that has become the shampoo, body soap, shaving cream, and in an emergency toothpaste in my toiletry kit.It is invigorating and opens up my eyes and sinuses every morning.
It can be a little shocking to sensitive body areas in the nether regions, but after a couple of uses you get used to it and dare I say look forward to it every morning.
The philosophy on the bottle also makes great reading!
Some might find it to be a bit pricey, but if you consider its multiple uses it is totally worth it.

I'm African american and I've just transitioned from relaxed to natural hair. I have a 4a/4b texture. This shampoo bar leaves my hair very soft, but it feels clean. I was skeptical, because a lot of products tend to not work on my hair.I have a sensitive scalp and a lot of products leave me with an itchy scalp. It's true you don't need to use a conditioner afterwards, but I use one anyway, because my hair is very thick. I hope this review helps others.
I thought that the use of this shampoo bar would be a little bit odd, but it is actually very easy. It goes on easily just running the bar over your head and works into a decent lather (not as much as you would get with a traditional shampoo though). It gets through the hair easily and when you rinse it out, you will really notice how slick and clean your hair is.

I tried "no poo" for almost a year... yes, that's right, a whole year. No one can tell me I didn't stick it out long enough! I wanted to rave about it. For those individuals where the no poo method works they gush about how wonderful their hair looks and feels. Soft, shiny, no fly aways... just magnificent lovely hair. And to top it off: no weird or potentially toxic chemicals and *almost* as cheap as just plain water.What's not to love?
Answer: Dandruff. Blasted dandruff. I tried every different ratio of baking soda to water. And for an after rinse, tried multiple ratios of apple cider vinegar to water. But nothing worked. I got dandruff galore (never had dandruff before), my roots were really waxy feeling (waxy, not oily), and my ends were dry. It was an epic fail. I couldn't take the dandruff anymore, so I gave up and was back to my regular shampoo/conditioner again... but I was still having dandruff issues. EGADS! I started to think my no poo experiment gave me a permanent dandruff problem. Not good.
Then I stumbled upon JR Liggett's shampoo bar. I was intrigued and hopeful. Very simple ingredients, nothing weird or potentially toxic. It doesn't strip hair of its natural oils (which is also the main reason most people do "no poo"). I decided to try it.
Let's just say: AMAZEBALLS. It got rid of my dandruff completely, my hair is soft, shiny and clean. I can easily go 2 days between washing. What a HUGE timesaver to only have to wash/dry my hair 50% as often. With regular shampoo, washing daily was a must, or my scalp started to itch and get super oily. I've been using JR Liggett's for about a month and soon will see if I can extend to 3 days between washing as my scalp adjusts and normalizes its oil production.
You need a couple washings to get the hang of it. Part your hair and run in along your scalp in a downwards direction like a brush. Just a few strokes then massage with your fingertips and it will produce a suprising amount of lather (unlike BS no poo, which has no lather). Don't rub the bar back and forth or it will leave you tangle-y. Concentrate on your scalp area you don't really need to worry about your ends.
Your hair will feel SQUEAKY clean. It will not feel slick. That's a good thing, in my opinion. Commercial products often include ingredients to coat your hair and give you a slick feeling. That leads to build up after time.
The company says that many people do not need conditioner when this bar shampoo. But my water is moderately hard, so I need something after washing. Instead of commercial conditioner I use 3:1 ratio of water:apple cider vinegar and it's perfect. My hair is not tangled and I can brush it really easily. My hair also dries really quickly. Another signal to me that my hair is healthy and the cuticles are closed.
Highly recommend this product. Here's what the JR website claims, and I have to say that it's all true in my experience (except I don't have permed or colored hair, so I don't know about that claim)

I can't say enough good things about this shampoo bar. I recently tried the no shampoo movement (washing hair with baking soda/water and conditioning with apple cider vinegar/water). I was a month in and my hair was getting unbearably greasy, so I tried this shampoo bar because it claimed that it did not strip the natural oils from your hair. I have been using this bar and then still conditioning with the vinegar/water. I love it and it is good for my hair too! No more grease, my hair is soft, and the smell is wonderful! It is also very convenient to travel with. No downsides in my book!

I started using this soap b/c it's organic, non-GMO and free of artificial fragrance. I've been using it for about 6 months and it works great, I wouldn't use any other kind of soap. It cleans my skin w/o any dryness or residue. I have use commericial soaps where I had to load up on moisturizer because they take the glyerin out of the soap and sell it. Lovelove this soap. I almost don't want to give the secret away. Enjoy.

I bought several of these soaps: green tea, pomegranate, honey almond, cucumber, rose and coconut. I didn't expect much from the the green tea so I left it for last, but the scent turned out to be ahhhh! lovely, and it's a toss up between this one and the coconut for my favorite thus far. I love shower time! Wonderful scent, lathers beautifully, doesn't turn into a soggy mess. Long lasting: the 250g bar lasts me a month. Will definitely order again.
The coconut is only a part of the fragrance, but it matches whatever else is in it wonderfully. I normally do not care for flowery scents at all, but this was very nice, and not overly sweet. The soap itself is high quality, and leaves my skin feeling absolutely normal and clean the way it should feel after showering! I like especially what it does for my facial skin, it looks radiant and healthy after using. It lathers extremely nicely, and is a good hard soap that seems like it will hold up longer than other soaps. It also does not have any chunky stuff in it that will show up on your washcloth or shower drain like sometimes other specialty soaps do, which I appreciated. The bathroom where it is stored smells wonderful all day long. This sized bar is a big bar, a nice size that should last you a while. I look forward to trying their other fragrances.

There are many different Nubian soaps on Amazon. I thought that what I had ordered was unscented, but I received Lavender and Wildflowers. Due to my allergies, I will not be able to try this soap out and will have to give to a friend. If you like Lavender than you will probably like this scent, unfortunately anything with a scent causes me to get a migraine. I was hoping to be able to purchase a shea butter that was unscented... guess I will have to continue my search.

Who knew that Dial has so many varieties of soap now? I haven't used bar soap for ages for showering but decided to get a deodorant soap for a particularly bad case of BO. I don't particularly like spray on deodorants and decided to get something that would work at the source, i.e. kill the bacteria with a strong soap. I then found out that they don't really make carbolic soap or boracic soap anymore, or at least make it easy to find, so this was the next best thing.What I've found is that this soap works well. It's got a mild scent and is somewhat dry compared to soap with moisturizers in it, but the important thing is that it works as advertised. So if you've got a strong BO problem give it a try. Because it's dry, I only use it on the affected areas and use moisturizing soap for washing elsewhere.

My mother bought Dial Gold soap when I was a kid, and I always loved the smell of it. It cleaned well, and kept us smelling clean all day long. It lathers nicely, and rinses off easily.Once I was an adult on my own, I continued to buy Dial Gold, and 40 years later that's all we use in my family's shower. It has the same scent as it did when I was a kid, and works just as well.
My only complaint is that they've changed the bars from a rectangle to hollowed out on the top and bottom. I understand that prices are going up and companies hate to raise prices and alienate consumers, but this is yet another example of a product being made smaller and represented as the same as before. A bar used to last our family for 7 10 days, and now it's gone in 5-6 days. Plus, it's hard to get the old sliver of soap to stick to the new bar because it's concave. Most of the time the sliver breaks and ends up being thrown away because it won't stay stuck to the new bar. That's such a waste, and unfair to the fans of this soap who have used it for decades.
But, as long as they make Dial Gold with the same scent and cleaning power, I'll continue to buy it.

Ok, its 20 bars of soap. Not really much to say other than it cleans well, disinfects, and seems to last longer than shower gels as one is not as tempted to over use. Having tried nearly every brand of shower gel out there from Axe to Alba Botanical to Dove for men to Irish Spring to Coast, it seems we (wife) always end up back with a good ol' bar soap. We truly like Dial, nice lather, nice clean scent, and a really good clean feeling.Best price around, got it for like $16.00 for a 20 pack, bought two to stock up.

I know smell is relative, but I really can't emphasize how nicely this soap smells. It has a natural scent that reminds me of Bay Rum with an earthy, vanilla and spice notes. The warm inviting smell is a refreshing change from modern citrus and or musk based scents, it lingers for some time but isn't overpowering. It felt a little harsh after the first few uses, but after my skin adapted, I'm happy with the moisture level now. The lather is rich, and you can shave with the soap, but I would rather use the Proraso cream made for that task (the red/sandalwood scent matches well). I'm Caucasian with short coarse hair, and I have trouble differentiating between good and bad shampoos so I can't really attest to that usage. The price can be high here, so be sure to shop around at your local drug stores.

Oatmeal Soap
I was contacted by this company and offered some products for review. I chose this one because my 11-year-old son suffers from eczema on his legs really badly. It's a constant battle of various lotions, creams and keeping him from scratching. Oatmeal soaps are know for helping to stop the itching and will usually keep him from scratching himself too badly after a bath.Oatmeal is a great product, overall. We've done every oatmeal bar and bath additive that I've been able to find over the years. They work pretty well as far as keeping his skin from being too itchy after a bath. As he dries off, he gets itchy and starts scratching, which can lead to scarring and bleeding (poor kid has so many scars from it as it is). The oatmeal is supposed to soothe the skin, keep him for getting too itchy and hopefully help keep the eczema from getting worse.
I found that this product works pretty much like the rest of them do. He told me it did help with the itchiness and he did scratch less after his shower with it. So, it works very much as expected. I don't think it was anything too special, so I'm not sure the higher price reflected the value you can get from other oatmeal products on the market, but if I were ordering something else of theirs (and their other stuff is super awesome), I would totally throw one of these into my cart as well.
Speaking of carts, their current website needs a bit of work. I was disappointed in it. This is a higher end company and they deserve more attention to their online sales portal. There's no "about us" or other information about the company. That's too bad because I would have liked to know more. The before and after photos are stunning, but don't tell us the condition and which product they used. I guess I just like more information on what I'm purchasing.
Overall, I recommend this product for those that like oatmeal soaps, especially if you are ordering any of their other products.

As far as the soap is concerned, I, like more and more people now a days, am growing tired of covering myself with chemicals in the name of cheap, mass produced, mass marketed trash. It works better than any soap I have used in my life, (and that's a lot of soap) and it feels and smells great.
Grandpa's Brands Company Pine Tar Soap
I am very pleased with this soap. I used it many years ago, as a teenager and it seemed to reduce acne. Now, as a middle-aged very fair skinned person I have started using it again to clean and moisturize in one step, and it seems to reduce some skin problems I have.(Even the dermatologist noticed.) As a guy I really don't like scented soaps but this one smells fine to me, and the mosquitoes don't seem to like it much (jes fine by me!).
