This is a tropical Polynesian scented soap. The Gardenia is not overpowering, but subtle and refreshing. It's a good value because of the hard-milling of the soap which makes it last a really long time.

It smells lovely! Sniffing the bar directly makes me sneeze, but on my skin the scent is light & stays the whole day. Unfortunately, it's drying, even on my oily skin. Not sure if I will purchase again, I may just stick to the oil itself.Just an FYI, Tiaré is a type of gardenia, but does not have the same scent as the Common/White Gardenia, which is used to fragrance most 'Gardenia' bath & beauty products. IMO, Tiare is very sweet, almost fruity-smelling, in the same way Frangipani (Plumeria) or Honeysuckle can be. If you want tropical, Tiaré or "Tahitian Gardenia" is this one. If you are looking for the typical, White Gardenia scent, try Body Shop or Caswell-Massy.

If you have been to French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, Raiatea, Moorea…), this is the exact soap they use there. It has a fantastic tropical floral scent that is pleasant in the bath and not very apparent on your skin afterwards. The coconut oil makes your skin soft; my husband and I find we do not need to use lotion when we use this soap. Redken Cleanse Acid Balanced Cleansing Bar 5 oz
The pros:This is the best smelling soap I've ever smelled. This one factor almost outweighs everything. It smells so good, it even makes your entire bathroom smell good. I don't know how to describe the smell, but it really makes waking up and taking a shower pleasant. It's a masculine smell, but fresh, not the over-powering Drakkar Noir type smell. I've had two women say how good it smells.
The cons:
It's very expensive.
It melts very easily when exposed to water, so one bar only lasts a week or two. I keep it in a separate soap bar container to try to protect it from left over water in the shower.
It's almost impossible to find it in stores. Even salons that sell Redken for Men products rarely carry it. You pretty much have to buy this online. Amazon seems to have the best price, although it's still really expensive.

This is for ladies too. I used to use AminoPon bar soap in the'70s and then Redken stopped making it. I switched over to the men's bar, the only differences were the scent and the addition of allantoin in the men's bar. Scent usually bothers me. Not so with the Redken soap. The scent is very pleasant. These soaps leave your skin feeling fabulous and NEVER NEVER dry. I have been trying to find someone who could replicate these soaps because it appears that Redken is no longer making this soap. This soap even helps with acne and rosacea. It is mild and soothing but cleansing and never drying. The price is WORTH it. Even so-called liquid creamy soaps that are supposed to be nondrying don't compare. I also have been using this soap for 25 30 years. I will not use anything else and take a bar with me whenever I travel. It was actually recommended to me by a woman I was dating.. she used it and loved it as well. I use it to wash my hair as well as a body wash. The fragrance is very pleasant but not perfumey or feminine at all..kind of hard to describe but everyone I have recommended it to has loved it. I have a good friend who has had itchy dry scalp problems his entire life and had tried numerous shampoos. Once he tried this he was ecstatic with the results. My girlfriend now uses it as well and she is very picky about skin and hair care products. It is expensive but I have a friend who's a hairdresser order it for me wholesale.. runs about $200 for a case of 48 bars so it's not that much more expensive than what a good bar of soap would cost. I don't know what I'll do if Redkin ever stops making this product. I highly recommend this product for BOTH men and women. This product is the only soap I can stand. Everything else leaves adry and itchy coating on my skin.
If you read the data packet that comes with the bar, you begin experi-
menting with leaving the suds in your hair, and find that it really does
leave no residue, but the appearance of a fuller head of hair. They claim
it's not really soap, that's o.k. with me, it still leaves me clean and
smells good enough to eat!
In the 60s it was a small bottle of Dr. Bronners and a backpack and I
was good-to-go. Today it's me and my RK Mens Bar (the archaic nomenclature
dates me, I'm sure), andoh yeahFind a dry spot for it and it will last
a lot longer.
If I could be exiled with only one frippery in my kit, it would be 2 bars

Just a friendly note to those who may be a little put off by the rather strong odor of lye when first opening the plastic wrap around the soap: wash your hands with the soap and then leave the soap out to dry. The smell will dissipate. Promise! I think that the lye smell comes from being packaged up so quickly after being poured in the mold. I only use my Mysore Sandal Soap on my face but I leave it out on the counter top in my bathroom. It's an automatic air freshener! (I consider this a two-in-one type of product.)
For those of us who have natural dreadlocks: you can slice or grate a few small slivers of this soap and put it in a cup of warm water to melt. Use it as a scalp and hair shampoo. Aromatic and divine feeling clean hair.

The clean, gentle aroma of the Mysore Sandal soap is so much more pleasant that similar products that are over-powering. It is easy on the skin yet very effective. Natural French Milled Soap - Honey, 8.8 oz
I have to disagree with the previous review we've been using this brand for awhile now and really like it. It's not harsh or drying, it lasts a long time, made with good natural ingredients, and the price is right. On top of that, this is personally my favorite scent. It's not strong, but is warm and definately is like honey.. _real_ honey, not fake "honey scent". Aubrey organics soaps will likely always be my preferred for their moisturizing properties, great quality and heavenly smells, but for the better price and greater longevity this one has become a close second in our house. It's a shame the previous writer didn't try the soap the scent is different when you actually use it, than just smelling the bar.

I have used this product for years and find there is nothing to equal it. Apart from being good for your skin it has the added benefit of not clogging bath and shower drains.Redken discontinued it some years ago but responded to demand and reintroduced it in a larger bar size which is probably better.
It looks as though Redken may be discontinuing it again as there is no stock in the UK and I am having to resort to buying in the US which has worked well so far. Delivery from the US source to a US address was no problem and the product condition is first class.

Handcrafted Buttermilk with Honey and Mango Butter Soap
I purchased this soap hoping it's as good as other reviewers have raved. Unfortunately, my soap didn't smell at all nor felt slightly soft and moist like I'm used to in soaps of this format. I thought maybe I have to wet it to release the scent but nothing. No lather either. This is the worst soap I have ever used and to think it cost ten dollars is absurd. I contacted the seller to see whether I got an old soap but no answer. I so wanted to love it but alas, it was a total rip off. The weight was 6.95oz just in case anyone wonders about the size because it wasn't in the product description when I was buying it.
Update 4/25/13:
Now that spring has sprung I can say that I made it through ski season with no cracked fingers (which had become the norm for me when using body wash)and minimal lotion. Getting ready to place my next order.
Update 5/14/13:
I've reordered twice now and got much smaller bars than my first few orders and the bars now cost more. I'm going to be contacting the company, but I just thought that folks should know they are now charging more for less product.

Tabac Original Shaving Soap Refill Bowl - Tabac Original - 125g/4.4oz
Tabac is one of those love it or hate it kind of soaps. Personally I thought the smell was way too strong. It reminded me of a teenage boy's cologne from 1976, very loud and not very appealing. Some people love the smell though, I'm just not one of them. I did have an allergic reaction to the soap, so I don't currently use it but as far as shaving soaps go, it funtioned very well. Honestly, the tallow soaps don't impress me enough to continue to pay these kinds of prices for them, the cheaper veggie soaps have performed very well for me without the heavy-duty smells that generally come with the tallow ones.
