Cal Ben Five Star All Natural Pure Soap 6-Pack (Made in the USA)

My husband and daughter have asthma and skin allergies. I had to do something because all the products I had tried were toxic and causing them to have asthma attacks. I came across this on a radio show about it being organic,ph balanced,pure,no harsh additives. So I gave it a go, 2 years later we still use it. If they ever quite selling it I would be devastated! It smells naturally amazing,like almonds. It makes our skin silky and smooth. They have extremely dry crusty skin nothing ever cured it. Since they have been using it their skin has been much better. Not as dry or chapped. You can even use it as toothpaste its totally safe. It works wonderful as a baby soap as well. I use the soap, lotion and laundry detergent. It has been such a blessing finding out that there is organic healthy cleansers that are natural and smell so good. A little goes a long way with their products. I buy in bulk it is very reasonable, Cal Ben sells in gallons which may seem expensive but is not because a gallon would last 6 months. The bars of soap last us about 4 months with all us using them. Very inexpensive because the soap is packed tight. It doesn't bloat like the toxic counterparts a walmart! Most our family is now using it. We were use to the feeling of the toxic fragrance bar soaps so it did take getting use to but after a couple of weeks we feel cleaner. When were around people that use fragrance type soaps you can smell it. Its wierd how you can't smell yourself when you bathe in fragrance and harmful chemicals, when you quit using them you can smell them on other people and it smells toxic. This is very wild but so true

Six years ago, if anyone would have told me that I'd soon become passionate about a line of soaps and cleaners, I'd have laughed them right out of my shop. I've never been one to worry about coming into contact with chemicals. Back in the old days a lot of backyard mechanics like myself used to wash greasy parts and our hands in gasoline, diesel, turpentine, kerosene etc. (hey it worked great and was cheap). I know guys who still do this.

We had heard about Cal Ben Five Star Soap on a satellite radio show, and after the wife was diagnosed with Stage 3C Ovarian Cancer and began chemotherapy, we really began to make an effort at eliminating chemicals from our lives as much as we practicably could. One of the things we did was to order a sample pack of Cal Ben's more popular products.

We both agreed after our first shower with the bar soap and shampoo that we could not only feel the difference on our skin, but for whatever reason, "felt" better mentally. It was just a change in mood, so it's hard to explain, but getting out of the shower and toweling off after the first shower with Cal Ben, I just had a clean and more positive feeling. I felt more alert and in a more positive mood than normal. I didn't expect or even want the stuff to be any different from my Dial soap, because ordering bar soap on-line seemed like it would be a hassle. I couldn't deny that the soap got my skin as clean as any other soap I've used (if not cleaner) and did it with all natural ingredients. We immediately placed an order for a four year bundled supply of all the Cal Ben 5 Star Soap products. Though not available on Amazon or through this seller that I know of, I'd like to add that we also really love the liquid dish soap (best we've ever used) and the powdered laundry soap.

Those with sensitive skin might be interested in my mother's experience with the Cal Ben line. Mom has a rare auto immune disease on top of allergies to just about any and all soaps,cleaners and perfumes. She's never been able to find a laundry detergent that didn't cause her some pain and rash, and could never even think about using a laundry powder. Most bar soaps and many shampoos would cause her to develop an itchy red rash as well. I tried for three years to get her to try Cal Ben. Last year she finally agreed to let us give her some of the laundry powder, bar soap, shampoo and dish soap. She was reluctant to try anything new to her, so she started off with the dish soap, and when she found that it made her hands feel great, she ventured on to the bar soap, shampoo and finally the dreaded laundry powder. A week later, she called and wanted to know if we could sell her some of our personal supply. Even though Mom liked the Cal Ben laundry soap, she has opted to buy Cal Ben's liquid laundry detergent simply because of her bad experiences with other laundry powders, but has had to reluctantly admit that all these products have changed her life (she hates it when I'm right). We ended up placing a big order with Cal Ben and dividing the product between us.

Some of the other reviewers have decided to mentioned that the soap offered here is being sold at a good price. Amazon prices fluctuate wildly at times so I will leave that matter up to the shopper to decide. I'm reviewing the product, not this particular seller (which on Amazon can change abruptly)or Amazon itself. We order directly from Cal Ben and spend $450 (including shipping) on the "Super Star `4800'® Collection" package that includes a four year supply of bar soap, dish soap, laundry detergent and shampoo. Cleaning products are very heavy, so ordering in bulk really cuts down on shipping costs and makes it convenient to not have to keep a close eye on our supply. This is the most economical and convenient route for us, but for those who aren't looking to lay out that much money at one time on cleaning products or who don't have room to store a half pallet of supplies, then buying a little at a time and paying more per unit may very well be your best option.

However you do it, DO give this bar soap and all the Cal-ben Five Star Soap line a chance. I believe you'll find, like our family, that you love the product line and will feel good about buying a product that it made her in the good ol' US of A.

These little bars lather well, but I have the feeling they aren't very fresh, as there is no scent other than a rather 'waxy" one. Smells nothing like the Aveda Refreshing Bath Soap that I've purchased from Aveda in the past. Other than that, no complaints! Was shipped fast!

South Of France Soaps Soap Bar Milld Gardenia

Just so we're not comparing apples and oranges, this is a true soap... not a 'cleansing bar'. It is one of the few bar soaps that has not been depleted of it's natural glycerin with the addition of sodium chloride. I've been a soapmaker. I buy South of France because it compares to my own homemade castile.

It is a nice soap -large, and hard milled, but the smell is way too strong. Not sure their fragrance is natural. I will finish using this, but will not buy again.

I bought 3 bars of this soap. The 2 that werent used will be given away as stocking stuffers.

At the outset, when you open the package of this soap, it is a beautiful white bar and has a lovely soft gardenia scent,

however it seems once you use it and leave the shower, there really is no residual scent that is left on the body.

I took into consideration that my nose was just de-sensitized, so I asked 3 other family members if they could smell the scent on my body. The answers were: "not really", no", and "mmmm,I dont know".

I've used the soap 3 times, and it also seems to be a little drying. One last comment is that it gets really soft once wet, easily indented if you have it rest on a soap grate of any kind.

I'm going to be looking for another perfumed Gardenia soap. Now I know why Estee Lauder charges $79 for theirs. It has better reviews and meets the expectations of leaving the beautiful Gardenia scent behind that one wants in the 1st place... I will probably splurge and get it soon.

Maui Tropical Soaps Clearly Hawaiian Glycerin Soap Plumeria, 5-Ounce (Pack of 3)

I expected these soaps to have more "smell" to them, especially since they list what flower they are made to smell like. I couldn't smell much at all when washing, or on my skin afterwards. They melted much to fast for me, was kind of disappointed. I have purchased other soaps on Amazon i am much happier with.

I miss Maui. I miss the surf, the sand, the rainbows, the sun, and the smell of plumeria wafting on the breeze. The only way I can recreate the magic of the Islands is through scent, and so I have become addicted to plumeria soap. It's not easy to find in my area and I was pleased to find this version on Amazon. This soup is creamy and gentle and best of all, it smells like the air in beautiful Hawaii. It's a small luxury a tiny piece of Maui in your bathtub.

Grandpa's Grandpa's Body Care Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap 1.25oz 48/1 OZ (Pack of 6)

I'm Southeast Asian with combination skin-type, I guess. I've never been to a dermatologist so I'm not sure what's wrong with my skin but it's scaly, itchy with dry white spots everywhere. Some times it's burning and red bumps would appear. A friend recommended this and I'm willing to try anything at this point. I often scratch, scratch, SCRATCH until there are long, bloody furrows on my arms, my thighs, bikini area, behind my knees, on my back/shoulder blades, everywhere. I've gotten used to slathering on Cortizone 10 every two hours EVERY WHERE on my body since I hit puberty 16 years ago to relieve the itching.

Since using this, my dry spots are dramatically less dry, my skin is only slightly oily but my face is soft with zero dry spots AND the odd, red rash-like bumps are gone. I still have to slap on a teaspoon of Cortizone 10 every hour if I intend to sweat or walk around for more than two hours to keep from scratching like a flea-bitten dog but I'm not an active person so this result is absolutely, positively, perfectly fine with me.

This soap is made from 100% Greek olive oil. It is completely vegetarian and does not contain artificial colors, fragrances or perfumes. The ingredients are olive oil, sodium chloride (salt) and citric acid (a natural pH balancer). To my nose, the soap has a very slight odor, which may be the olive oil.

This pure olive oil soap can be used as a face or body soap, as well as a shampoo for dry hair. I've used the soap several times to wash my hair. It does seem to give my skin a more youthful look. Hydroxytyrosol, an antioxidant found only in olive oil, provides anti-inflammatory effects to help heal skin abrasions, rashes and even sunburn. It is also non-greasy and will not clog pores, helping those with acne.

The order arrived very quickly--about 1 1/2 weeks from the time I ordered it. Came wrapped in a plain brown paper wrapper and was in perfect condition. My skin is super sensitive to fragrance and dries out easily. I had been using Kiss My Face Olive Oil soap for the last 1 1/2 years and thought I'd try this soap and Olivella when I saw them both on Amazon. This brand turned out to be the best of the three. It's the most moisturizing and least scented. (All 3 soaps were "unscented" but the ingredients do carry a natural smell. all the same.) I'd recommend this to anyone with dry, sensitive skin. Hope they never stop making it! 5+++ stars!!!

Michel Design Works Honey Almond Foaming Soap, 17.8-Ounce

I have both the almond and magnolia ones.

The bottles are really cute/decorative and they have a nice strong-enough scent. And the bottles are pretty easy to "pump" (I've had some liquid soaps that need enough pressure that I find myself hoping my soap-dish is fastened to the wall securely enough minor detail, but figure it's worth a mention)

I like that the scent smells natural and not at all chemical-perfumey.

Another nice thing about it is that it doesn't dry out my hands. And I have OCD and wash my hands a lot! (Not like for hours at a time or repetitively, but probably more often than a typical person might) :)

OK I have no idea if this is true, but my hypothesis is that since it is a foaming soap, potentially you use less than with regular liquid soap, so may have the added bonus of lasting longer (?). I honestly have no idea if that's the case, but thought I'd toss that theory out there as an added plus.

This is the second time I got this soap. The smell is wonderful and because it comes out like foam it lasts a lot longer than pump soap.

French Jasmine and Lilac Soap with Shea Butter

Natural soaps let me ditch all body wash, hand soap, facial cleansers, lotions and creams, shampoo and hair products and some conditioner. Trying their many recipes is addicting and these are a great original gift idea. They are a little pricier per bar but this is a hard, long lasting big bar. Orders are processed fast.

My skin feels very clean. However, I thought the fragrance would have been a little more stronger. It has a soft smell.

Lemongrass Soap with Lemon Essential Oil (Stimulant & Cooling Soap)

This soap smells like lemon meringue pie! It feels smooth, has a mild lather, and cleans very well as all NHC soaps do. The first time I used it I loved how strong the lemon smell was and how soft it left my skin but after using it a few times you kind of get over the scent, so I'm glad I had the Brazilian Expresso (my fave) and others to rotate with. The bar is big, so you can cut in half or in thirds and share with friends/family or just store them away for later use( I kept mine in my dresser drawers so my clothes smelled like the soaps). I was expecting to get a tingling feeling from this but I didn't. This is a good soap for lemon lovers but it would be a GREAT soap if it had some type of mint added to it. Next time I buy this I will pair it with a natural mint soap.
