I recently started getting skin rashes in response to a lot of soaps and detergents, so I've been switching to hypoallergenic products. This soap has been working great for me. I hear that Dial also sells the same soap under a different name (Pure & Natural) for a higher price; get this one instead. Much better value!

Though the Germans who made my "Pure & Natural" soap (which I used for years) swore that they'd stopped making it "because not enough was being sold", it seems they rejiggered the formula for "Dial" (which I'd never liked), because this is pretty much a clone of "Pure & Natural".

Olivella Face and Body Soap, Fragrance Free, All-natural 100% Virgin Olive Oil From Italy, 3.52-oz

To a person like myself who is allergic to the perfumes in regular soap, this stuff is a godsend.

Ingredients: Sodium Olivate (saponified virgin olive oil), Water, Glycerin (from virgin olive oil).

My dermatitis acted up again earlier this month, and while I've used Cetaphil and Aquaphor and Dr. Bronner's, I was so insane with itch that a friend recommended I find an olive oil soap (without coconut oils, as I've been using "natural" hair products with a lot of coconut oil and derivatives and it was possible I'd developed a sensitivity). In searching, I happened upon this brand and decided to order and try it.

It's really gentle and leaves my skin soft, smooth, and non-itchy (the last being hugely important to me). It does have a strongish olive oil scent, but not a perfumey one. Makes sense it smells like OO, no? Some find this offputting, but it doesn't linger. You smell it while showering, but not after. I'd also add that this lathers discreetly, but adequately and nicely. It's not sudsfest, but enough to know you are getting some surfactant action going and getting off the dirt and grime (if you're grimy, hah).

My rash is gone and I'm now ordering more of this. I don't use it on my face, which is the most sensitive part of my body. I still use the Cetaphil on that (and the Kinerase Gentle Cleanser when I have makeup to take off). But for the neck down, this has been great.

It does have a slippery feel, but not slimy as another commenter posted. At least in my opinion. I had ordered my original bars from iHerb on sale, but this is a competitive price for the 12-pack, so I'm ordering this one. Hope they don't mess up and send me the scented. I can't use that one.

Update: Well, I found a saponified OO soap bar I like as well, if not better. It's a Greek OO one and it REALLY is unfragranced (ie, Olivella has a stronge OO smell to it, very vegetal one might say). It's called Aptera Olive Oil Soap 4.3 oz and I give it a slightly higher thumbs up than Olivella for being really fragrance free and even LESS sudsing action--which prolly means gentler. Ordered a dozen this AM from Mother Nature, which also sells it through amazon for those who hate the OO smell of Olivella and those who want a slightly less slimy/slippery sensation. Olivella is more "oil" feeling than Aptera. I will probably use both, as I like both and think for the allergy-prone, rotating products is a good idea, anyway. Two great products that are good for your sensitive skin. Yay.

I have super sensitive skin I also have super soft skin I'll tell you why: I've found that most "100% natural" soaps dry it out It gets itchy. Olivella doesn't and I think the reason for that is this soap is saponified olive oil, not cheaper palm or coconut oil that has a drop of added olive oil and then marketed as "olive oil soap" It's also cheaper than most of the soaps I've found at Whole Foods that use palm and coconut oils and fillers such as zinc and titanium dioxide or clay... My Italian friends have their parents send them bars from Italy and I buy it by the 12 pack... Read the ingredients: Saponified olive oil, glycerin, and water... That's it... Now read your favorite soap and compare nuff said!

I bought this to use with Olivella moisturizer after reading some positive reviews. Yes the soap has a strong veggie-like odor when first unwrapped, but after it gets wet the smell dissipates and you have a long-lasting gentle on the skin bar of soap. I like it because it got rid of some stubborn blackheads without being overly drying. A much better soap than Neutrogena and more economical if you buy the 12-pack.

Caldrea Liquid Dish Soap 16 fl oz (473 ml)

I must admit I thought the price was a bit high but after using the soap, I don't know if I can go back to the everyday, run-of-mill soap from the local store.

The smell is wonderful. It reminds me a man's cologne[it is a masculine aroma] and it lingers on your hands for a while. But frankly, it is soothing. We added some to our hand dispenser, added a little water to make it stretch, and everyone here loves it.

It cleans the dishes well and I really can't think of anything negative aside from you may not like that the smell lingers...but we love it. it also cleans our hands nicely and leaves them feeling soft.

I use a sponge and add one drop of soap to it [we don't fill the sink with water to conserve]. And that one drop will clean dishes for a setting of three and the pots and pans if they are not too dirty.

We are very pleased with this product and recommend it to anyone that wants a pleasant aroma while doing the mundane task of washing dishes by hand.

It cleans well and lasts as long as the national brands. I don't find it especially bubbly, however I always mix a little washing soda (Borax) in my dish liquid to make it a little wetter. That make cut down the suds. It costs quite a bit more, but it's so worth it. Rebecca is rightit will make you handwash dishes more than before. I would never handwash anything that could go in the dishwasherwould do tiny loads, but since I found Caldrea I haven't used the dishwasher in 8 months. I can hardly wait to wash dishes in the evening. It's an enjoyable (dare I say, exciting) experience. It started with the Lavender Pine. I got a sampler kit and find the Green Tea Patchoulli to be fantastic as well. Caldrea makes dishwasher powder, countertop spray, hand lotion, laundry detergent and softener and more, all natural from botanicals, in several fabulous scents. I have been buying Pears soap for many years. I just used one of the bars from this package for the first time. While the soap resembles Pears, it is not. First of all, it stinks really awful. Second, upon reading the new ingredients list, I was shocked to see that the soap is now made up of primarily chemicals, nothing like the purity of the original soap. Finally, the soap left my skin extremely dry and itchy. I am upset that I purchased a case of this soap believing that it was the same soap that I've bought for years. There is nothing on Amazon's site that makes clear to the buyer that this product has been completely reformulated. Because it's not within the 30-day return period, I cannot return this product for a full refund, and they will not refund my shipping. It's going in the trash where it belongs. What a waste! Don't let this happen to you. I wish I could give this 0 stars.

Until I read the other reviews, noting that Pears had dramatically changed their 200-year-old formula, I thought that I had purchased a counterfeit soap. It looks similar to the old soap, with the same warm color and general size, but the smell was strikingly different. It no longer smells natural but more like Mr. Clean or insecticide. I have sensitive skin, and after a week I noted that my eczema flared up.

I compared the new box to the old box and saw some radical differences. The old box noted that the soap was hypo-allergenic and non-comedogenic. The new box is silent, deleting the claim. The old box listed eight natural looking ingredients. The new box lists 23 ingredients, including Sodium Meta Bisulfite, Etidronic acid, Tetra Sodium EDTA, BHT, Cl 12490, Cl 47005, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate.

Whoah. I'm not rubbing these chemicals into my kids' skin. I threw all twelve bars in the trash. After 30 years using this soap, we are done. Bring back the old formula!

We used this to fill our foaming hand soap dispensers; it's not nearly as drying as the regular Dr. Bronner's in that capacity (my husband has eczema on his hands and it's very sensitive) and a very mild scent.

Men's Natural Bar Soap

As weird as it may sound, this soap actually makes you want to take a shower. The smell is softly spicy (I consider it a unisex fragrance). The soap is mild and leaves you feeling clean without feeling dry. The only question I have is does it dissolve? Because it doesn't appear to.
