Nubian Heritage Goat's Milk & Chai Bar Soap
I bought this soap three days ago and I already feel a difference in my skin. My skin feels soft, smooth and moisturized. The natural ingredients did not irritate my skin( I even used it on my face and I have extremely sensitive skin) and left a light, pleasant smell. I don't know how this will work in the long run but so far, so good!

I had to amend my review from three stars to five because after using it up--both my husband and I love it and I am buying more! I have never had soap that takes makeup off sooo well--even waterproof mascara. It does not sting! We also notice that our skin is soft and I have not had to use lotion! I really, really like this soap. I notice that the name is different now, so I hope the soap has not changed in anyway.

This soap is amazing. I give it five stars for the following reasons:1) First, the smell -If strong scents easily overwhelm you, this bar is one to try. It has a subtle sweet smell. I look ridiculous smelling my bar of soap but it just smells delightful.
2) When other soaps fail to treat your skin issues, Nubian Heritage does not -Most people try this soap because of skin issues, including skin sensitivity issues. I am very sensitive to most cleansing products; my face becomes a dry, itching mess quite easily. I also still contend with pimples. This soap helps control my acne without turning my face into a dry, red mess.
3) Your skin was soft once and will be again -This soap has phenomenal moisturizing properties. It feels great on your skin. I don't have to apply baby oil or moisturizing body lotion because this soap does it all. If your hair becomes dry during particular periods of the year, try washing your hair with this bar rather than using hot oils or protein soaks.
4) Ingredients you can pronounce -I don't want dyes or heavy chemicals in anything I use but especially on my face. This soap has a straightforward ingredient list.

I actually bought this soap from a local store since I didn't want to wait and pay shipping. Same brand though, love Nubian Heritage products. This soap is divine. I also use the black soap which is drying so I use the coconut papaya one after I rince off the black soap because it seems to conditions the skin and my skin is less dry. Using the two together has been wonderful. I have 20 year old stretch marks from childbirth that are fading! Anything that can do that is a winner in my book. I thought I would be stuck with those for life and never really tried to do away with them since I thought it was a lost cause. Then I started using these products and I swear in two weeks I started to notice that those stretch marks were fading and some disappeared all together. I told my boyfriend and he said it was placebo effect but then he started to really notice dark spots fading and completely disappearing as well and now he is using the soap too which means now I have to buy more since it is going quite fast. Also got my teen and 22 year old to start using it. I do not know what is in this soap but the minute it was on my skin I wanted it off.It has an extremely heavy residue. As you wash your hands with it, it feels so sticky
and I had to wash for a long time to try to remove it and it did not even then come off.

I received this as one of the birthday gifts from a co-worker who helped host a cupcake-themed birthday party for me at my workplace yesterday. She told me that she bought this soap partly because it had the picture of a sweet cupcake on the box. If you personally know me, you would know that everywhere I travel, I usually buy soaps to remind me of that place. I've always liked the smell of soaps ever since I was little girl. Maybe it's partly because after I was born, my grandmother came from Thailand to help raise me when my mother was working as a registered nurse and my father was working as a medical doctor. My grandmother came to help take care of me for a little while, and she had Laotian and French blood (and thus spoke Thai, French, and English fluently) and married my mother's father who had Thai blood. Anyways, my grandmother loved French stuff, had visited France many times, taught French in Thailand, and had the habit of putting small, artisan, French-milled soaps in a lot of her dresser drawers to make each drawer smell nice. When I was a little girl, I really loved the smell of the French soaps. So, soaps, kind of remind me of my grandmother, and if I had to choose between the smell of soaps or perfumes, I would choose soaps. I like to give soaps as small gifts to various people, and the people who know me like to do the same as well. Honestly, with as many soaps I buy and use, I could probably write a soap blog. In my humble opinion, some of the best soaps in the world are made from the following companies: Fresh, Lush, Lollia, The Body Shop, Pacifica, Claus Porto, Doux, Savon de Marseille (when I visited Marseille, Salon-de-Provence (where Nostradamus lived his final years), and other parts of France), Victoria Scandinavian soap (when I visited Sweden), Maria Evora (when I visited Spain and Mallorca), Island Soap & Candle (when I visited Maui for the first time), Bathhouse Soapery & Caldarium (when I visited Hot Springs, Arkansas), and Amazing Thai Beauty (from the times I visited Thailand). I think the #1 soap experience for me so far was going to the Provence region in France and watching French soap shop owners make soap. Anyways, this Michel Design Works soap smells like you're going to a spa. It's triple-milled in Sussex, England, and has the Michel Design Works logo on the soap. This shea butter soap is white, and their logo has an elephant. The elephant personally holds special meaning for me because it's the national symbol of Thailand they even have a National Elephant Day holiday, which the Google company even made a National Elephant Day Google logo for that day. So, I have quite an elephant collection because a lot of my friends and acquaintances have given me elephant items over the course of my existence. Anyways, this Michel Design Works soap looks so pretty and nice, that I think if someone is buying this soap, they should get more than one a couple for decorative purposes, and a couple to actually use when bathing. It's 3.5 ounces, and is reasonably-sized and priced. If you visit the Michel Design Works webpage, you will see that there are many various-themed soap packages hummingbird, goldfish, friendship, bunnies, water lily, sunflowers, bird and nest, teacup, by the sea, etc. If my memory is correct, the company is based in New York. Anyways, this Michel Design Works is a nice soap that would make a great small gift for anyone.

It smells lovely! Sniffing the bar directly makes me sneeze, but on my skin the scent is light & stays the whole day. Unfortunately, it's drying, even on my oily skin. Not sure if I will purchase again, I may just stick to the oil itself.Just an FYI, Tiaré is a type of gardenia, but does not have the same scent as the Common/White Gardenia, which is used to fragrance most 'Gardenia' bath & beauty products. IMO, Tiare is very sweet, almost fruity-smelling, in the same way Frangipani (Plumeria) or Honeysuckle can be. If you want tropical, Tiaré or "Tahitian Gardenia" is this one. If you are looking for the typical, White Gardenia scent, try Body Shop or Caswell-Massy.

If you have been to French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, Raiatea, Moorea…), this is the exact soap they use there. It has a fantastic tropical floral scent that is pleasant in the bath and not very apparent on your skin afterwards. I guess buying organic body and hair care products is still the same as buying the regular, chemical-laden stuff off the grocery store shelves...some you like, some you don't, even among the different products of the same brand. I really dislike Aubrey's super hold Pssst Hairspray. It's not that it didn't do the job, the smell was awful.This stuff smells good, moisturizes well and produces some bubbles to boot. Some of the other organic bodywashes I've tried didn't even make a lather. Sometimes I mix it with Burt's Bees Citrus & Ginger Root Body Wash, which I also like a lot. If you dislike soaps that don't bubble, this is for you.

I have purchased Bee and Flower sandalwood soap from numerous stores in the past and have always really liked the sandalwood smell. I have used this soap for well over 10 years and it still remains my favorite. While Chandrika Ayurvedic soap is handmade using no animal products, it's intoxicating and fragrant scent along with its outstanding properties as a soap are what have made me a fan for so many years. It never dries your skin yet cleans your skin completely. The packaging is also a big part of my love for this product. Each bar is stamped on both sides with an imprint and individually wrapped in clear cellophane wrapper which is then wrapped with a folded parchment sheet printed on both sides with the soap's 9 ingredients (coconut oil making up over 66%). At the bottom of the paper wrapper it states "Always Use CHANDRIKA Ensure your Personal charm." I hope you will give it a try. It's a magical little item that is inexpensive, but wonderful.

I first started using this soap when I went to Thailand back in January of 2008. I wanted something small with a fresh scent (and of course, natural!). In the winter, I tend to purchase other soaps with more moisturizing qualities but in the summer, I like the scent of the Chandrika. However, to the reviewer that mentioned the soap burns his/her face...I wouldn't be surprised if that's due to the sodium hydroxide aka caustic soda aka lye. I wish they'd find a replacement for this one ingredient and I'd be sold for life. In Chandrika's defense, lye has been used in soap making forever and so I guess it's fairly safe in this form. I have been using Chandrika soap for more than 20 years. At one point, during that bleak historical period known as "pre-Internet," I was living in a small town and had to order an absurdly large amount (60 or 80 bars) from a distributor to have any at all. This is the only soap that I can use on my back to prevent itching, acne, and exzema. It is kind to my face, too. If you have delicate or problem skin, this may be the solution for you.

This soap is great. I use it in liquid form and in bar form. It contains no sodium laurel/laureth sulfate, which is literally toxic to my skin. I used to have really bad eczema on my hands, and the thing that helped most was switching to Dr. Bronner's soap.This soap lathers incredibly well, and I love the smell. The only bad thing I can say about it is that it stings like crazy if you get it in your eye(s) or open wounds (even cuts from shaving). But not too many soaps I know of are eye-friendly.
Regarding the scent: The last time I purchased this soap, I was sent bars that had essentially no scent at all to them. I wrote to the manufacturer, and they informed me that their soaps have a 3-year shelf life, and that the scent dissipates over time. They also told me how to interpret the 4-digit date code imprinted on each bar of soap: The first number indicates the year (i.e. 7=2007) and the next three numbers indicate the day of the year out of 365. For example, 8001 would be January 1, 2008 and 7365 would be December 31, 2007. My date code was 5257, meaning that when I ordered in late 2011, I was sent soap made in mid-2005. No wonder it had no scent.
You can buy Dr. Bronner's soap at Farget [sic] but you'll pay more, and the scent selection is very limited.

Dr Bronners soaps are made of good ingredients and they really are good for your skin. I like the way my skin feels when I use their soaps. This one doesn't have much of a scent if you are looking for an unscented or mild scented soap. The lavender soap smells great. These soaps lather well and rinse clean. They are a little pricey but if you want a quality soap, look no further.
