God, it smells just so friggin good. I wish I could keep this smell with me everywhere I go. It smells like camping. And grandpas. And everything nice in the world.

While the Sage soaps from Juniper Ridge are my favorite, the cedar varieties come in a very close second. The scent wasn't exactly what I expected, as I was imagining something more along the lines of fresh-cut cedar, but it has more of an earthy aroma, which actually seems a bit more authentic. I never buy this product for myself and I can usually get it at Berkeley Bowl if it hasn't sold out. But it's so wonderful and I love the crispness of the scent along with that slight dirt smell that lingers. I can't use it because it's too masculine for me. However, I buy it for my friend and he's been hooked on it! And it's great to smell him whenever we hang out. I've heard it said that smell is the most evocative of memories. Whenever I use this soap I'm back on a hike in the forest there's very little "soap smell," it's just pure woodsy goodness. I give it to friends who grew up on the West Coast but moved away it's one of the best ways to be transported back home.
