Soap can be used for more than bathing. One holistic use for soap is to lubricate wooden drawers that stick or squeak. Rubbing this bar on the areas of the drawer where friction occurs will reduce the friction, and produce a pleasant fragrance whenever the drawer is opened.

I have no idea how anyone can not love the smell of this soap. Yes, it's not pure sandalwood, but that's what I love... it smells like an amazing, sweet incense from an Indian temple or something. The spikenard, frankincense etc all add to the spiritual, lingering gorgeousness of this fragrance. I want to write a poem about this soap, I love it so much. When I wake up and use this soap (which by the way, the particles in it are not "dirt," they are exfoliating ground up resins, and the reason the soap is soft is because it is produced the traditional way, retaining the natural glycerin) I feel soothed and comforted, and I know the day is going to be OK. It is almost like a mini meditation in a bar. I also love the fact that the scent lingers on me all day. It is not heavy and overpowering like pure sandalwood is to me, it is sweet and subtle, almost churchy (from the frankincense). It just has such a spiritual scent and it doesn't fade like many natural soap smells do. It also is wonderfully moisturizing and exfoliating. I came here looking to buy this by the case. ;)

This is my all-time favorite soap... smells great, it goes a little fast but i think that's because of the natural cold-processing. Something about it just makes me feel good... worth trying, if you are curious. I used it at a vacation center, found in an organic food market; when i came home, i decided i needed to find the brand again. I looked online, there it was. Whenever I use it it takes me back to my vacation... perfect.

Each time I use this soap, I am transported to a different exotic place. It can literally put me in a different state of mind.

I slice each of the soap bars into smaller pieces and use them as sachets in my armoire. Love it!

Rosemary Mint Glycerin Soap

I have extremely sensitive skin, and I suffer from eczema. Needless to say, it's very difficult for me to find a product that won't dry out my skin or cause a bad flare up. I discovered this soap at Whole Foods, and decided to give it a go. After a few days of use, my skin was soft, moisturized, and problem free. Also, the scent is very nice not too overpowering. Daggett & Ramsdell Lightening Soap 3.5 oz.

This by far the best lightening soap I've used so far. Last summer I used Dianna Stalder's Kojic Soap without ANY results, but with the Daggett and Ramsdell soap I've seen great results. I have been using this soap for a month and half with remarkable results. I used it to remove my annual summer tan. The key is to scrub this stuff into your skin with a sponge. For my face, I like to soap my hands up with this soap and mix in a little bit of St. Ives Apricot scrub to help the process along. Exfoliation is key. I don't really think this soap will lighten you past your natural complexion if that's what you're going for--this is why I like it personally. I did not aim to lighten up more than what was natural, but to lighten my complexion back to it's original color.

I should mention that I am African American of a light to medium complexion. My natural undertones are gold, red, yellow and brown mixed together, however this soap makes my skin "glow" evenly. It's an excellent "brightener"! Just be sure to use this soap with a good sunblock lotion. I use one with 50 spf.

I love this stuff...It is gentle on my skin and I have super sensitive skin and it actually lightens! I was surprised...it's nice, it won't make you an unnatural weird shade, probably the lightest you can go to your natural color, it's good at taking away dark spots and tan lines!

I have been using this soap for the past month and a half and it really does lighten your skin to it natural color. However, It takes a while ( I still have darker sunburned areas that need to be ligtened) and the lightening is uneven. For example. Part of my hands are their natural color while part of my hand is still dark from the sun. My arms have not lightened at all but my legs are back to their original color.

If you have a small area to treat this product is great but if you have a wide area that needs to be lightened just know you will have multiple colors until everything evens out.

New ingredients: Sorbitol, Aqua, Sodium Palmate/stearate, Sodium Palmkernelate, Sodium Rosinate, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, PEG-4, Alcohol, Glycerin, Perfume, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Meta Bisulfite, Etidronic acid, Tetra Sodium EDTA, BHT, Cl 12490, Cl 47005, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate, Cinnamal, Eugenol, Limonene, Linalool.

I ordered Pears soap because it is one of only two soaps I can use -period! That was the old formulation, of course. There was absolutely nothing in the description telling me the formula had changed and Pears now contains a plethora of chemicals as well as perfume. Which I cannot tolerate at all, being severely asthmatic. I noticed the cellophane wrapper when I opened it but didn't think anything about it. Then I used it in my morning shower. The smell is enough to bring me to my knees, gasping for breath. It is seriously pesticide smelling and horrible. I am returning my order to Amazon today.

If anyone finds a source for the great OLD Pears soap, please post it on here! For those of us with severe allergies, this is a catastrophe!

Slightly less than a year ago (late September 2009) I was getting low on Pears, but couldn't find it at my local Denver, Colorado, USA, area stores, so I bought a 12-bar carton from Amazon. Now I only have 4 bars left, and so today I bought some bars at a local Dollar Tree store. I did notice the packaging changes, but I didn't realize the extent of the disaster until I got home, compared a new box with an old, and saw the strange new ingredient list. That motivated me to open a new box, which revealed the new plastic/cellophane wrapping. I opened it and was greeted by the horrible new odor! It's quite a nasty-smelling formulation, reminiscent of some kind of insecticide or industrial cleaning product. I bet Unilever uses the wrapper to disguise the disgusting smell. I immediately returned the bars. Unfortunately, this probably means that Amazon also no longer has the old formula, unless a savvy and honest seller specifically says that they have the original product. Such a shame for a great 220-year-old brand, which Unilever has totally ruined. Needless to say, I won't be buying the horrific "New Pears" formula.

I've enjoyed this soap for over 20 years and can't believe the awful changes that unilever has made to it. The wonderful fragrance is gone, replaced by an antiseptic smell. The bar doesn't last nearly as long. And they've added a bunch of unnecessary ingredients. Don't waste your money on the reformulated Pears. Frankly, it doesn't even deserve the name.

The description of this Pears soap is deliberatley misleading, as it uses the word "original" which makes you believe it is the original 9 component formula of Pears soap. It is not....and you can buy this In dollar stores for a lot less. I was disppointed when i received the order after having checked other AmericaRx products elsewhere on Amazon which show the original formula as part of their description. That led me to belive I was buying the same product, which it is not. Do not waste time and money on buying this, which is the new formula with added chemical ingredients.The real original formula box has 2 soap bars on it and states it is Hypo-allergenic and non-comedogenic.

I prefer Irish Spring Original but could not find it in a 20 bar pack for the price I was willing to pay. I opted to try Irish Spring with Aloe and while I can take or leave Aloe in my soap the product did not disappoint, especially for the price and quantity. The only disappointment is how quickly a single bar dissolves with use; twice as fast or faster than a bar of Irish Spring Original. This defeats the purpose of getting a better price per bar, especially if I use twice as much as a single bar of Irish Spring Original over the same time period.

I like this better than the regular irish spring. It leaves my skin a little less dry than the regular version. I also like the scent better.

Dr. Bronner's Organic Pure Castile Citrus Orange Soap, 5 oz - 2 Bars

I ordered several of these soap bars, thinking that (as per the description that says "2 bars") each order came with 2 bars of soap. Apparently, this is not the case. Each order is only one bar, so I only got half of my expected order. I emailed the seller and within 24 hours they had issued a refund for the half I did not receive. So, customer service gets five stars, though overall I gave it only four since the description is misleading.

As for the product, I'm a big Dr. Bronner's fan. Unlike "regular" soaps, these don't dry out my skin. I am planning to use these to make dishwashing soap, hence the choice of the citrus, since citrus is a natural grime-killer.
