The soap itself lathers up (sodium lauryl sulfate much?) quite a bit, and my skin right after rinsing with water feels much like it does with cheap regular soaps. I have had acne/ post acne scars (PIH) for so long I can't even remember myself without it. I am African-American but my complexion is very fair and so everything shows. It's like pimples and scars on parade. I know you may hear it all the time but I have tried it all. I used this soap when I discovered that I had an intense farmer's tan...like...terrible. Forearms a nice brown like chocolate, but biceps (if you could even call them that...ahem...) a nice yellow...two nice skin tones clashed together to make one ugly complexion. I bought this soap hoping to even myself out. After the first use, I noticed the water had turned gray as I was rinsing off (gross I know), which told me that it helped to strip off a bunch of dead skin. I'm a guy and tend not to think about sunscreen, exfoliation, moisturizing, etc. I'm naturally a yellowy color (I'm half Caucasian), but thanks to my Filipino genes, I can get pretty dark. So I think that this soap works mainly for people who are naturally lighter, but have darkened due to sun damage, dead skin build up, etc. An easy way to tell is to look in a place where literally, "the sun don't shine." Take a look at your scalp under your hair, and that'll give you a ballpark estimate of what color you are. This soap probably won't get you back to that color, but it'll lighten you up.

I personally noticed an overall brighter complexion after a week, but not necessarily a skin color change. My skin color started getting lighter once fall started and I wasn't outside as much. I usually can hold a tan through the winter, but with this soap, that's not true anymore since it exfoliates off the skin that has been tanned. I have been using this soap since August 2010, and it's now February 2011, and I am so light compared to the color that I usually am. This soap is more of an exfoliating soap, so in order to actually lighten, you'll need to keep a sunscreen on your skin to shield the sun from making your melanocytes too active (of course this isn't going to decrease the melanin production naturally present as hydroquinone would, but that's a different review!). Give it around 4-6 weeks to see a difference, because that's how long it takes for your skin to be completely regenerated.

I should also mention that you'll need a good moisturizer for this soap cuz if you don't use one, you'll dry out like a prune. This worked for my acne too. Thank God...those drug store acne kits just seemed to make me more oily.

this product is the first skin care lightening soap that I have used that lived up to my expectations. I have tried them all from deep depilatories, makari skin care products, you name it. Dr Bronner's Lavender Castile Soap - 1 Pack

I bought this bottle of soap a little over a year ago for $16 at my local Target. For a college student, that seems expensive but it was totally worth it.

Because it is such a highly concentrated soap, you do not have to use very much at all, which is probably why I still have 1/4 of the bottle left. I have literally used it for everything. I have extremely sensitive yet **acne** prone skin, and a little squirt of this on a hot rag has **cleared my skin completely**. I have not had any trouble with pimples or sensitivity since using this; after I wash my face I slather on organic aloe vera to help protect my skin so the combination of the two is wonderful. I also use this as a shampoo/body wash. Literally a quarter size squirt in the hand can wash my super long,thick mane of hair, body and face with suds left to spare and because it doesn't have any SLS in it to lather, it doesn't over bubble if that makes sense.

Washing my clothes with this has been amazing also. I started breaking out in a rash over the summer when I switched the detergents I used so I started using this instead! My formula for a large college-kid load of laundry is, take a washcloth(or sock) and squirt the Lavender soap all over it until it is fairly saturated and then throw the rag(or sock) in the wash with your clothes. They come out extremely clean and smelling awesome.

I also used this as a replacement for toothpaste when I broke out in ulcers all in my mouth and the coconut oil in it helped heal them in about 2 days whereas normal toothpaste was irritating them. I have since switched from normal toothpaste to Tom's and that solved the ulcer problem :p

Ah, this soap seriously is magical.

I have had clogged, open pores on my nose and breakouts for a long time due to my dirty, hands-on occupation. I have tried a bunch of face cleansers, even prescription topical stuff. While that cleared up breakouts my pores were still super gross no matter how much i exfoliated and scrubbed or left it alone in case the exfoliation was just making it worse.

I have been using this lavender soap with a hot, clean washcloth in the morning and at night for two weeks and my nose pores are the cleanest they have been in years. Maybe its coincidence, maybe i have changed a habit or some unknown environmental trigger that was the culprit...but it seems like this stuff works.

I wouldnt use it for shampoo as it leaves my hair pretty gnarly but for my face and cleaning just about everything else? Well the hippies are on to something with this soap. The religious ramblings on the package are amusing, something to read while you soap your buttcrack in the shower!

I absolutely love this soap, and it's smell. Hence the four stars, DESPITE it being a bit too powerful. When I use this on my face, it tends to sting and burn the skin on my upper cheeks, cheeks, and lower jawline. I generally have sensitive skin and switched to this product to (a) use more natural products and (b) because it claimed to be non-drying and better for sensitive skin. This being said, I find that if I put only a couple drops in my hands and dilute with quite a bit of water, it's not nearly as bad, and the smell is intoxicating. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone looking for a natural, healthy alternative.

The soaps are not oval as shown in the picture. Rather there are 4 rectangular bars which may not matter to you but the "mandarine" soaps are oval and in my opinion easier to wash with. The quality of the soap is excellent however.

I am a soldier serving in Iraq, where as you may know, it gets pretty hot here. I will always choose products made in America so as to support the businesses of my fellow Americans, and will always choose organic items over those items which use ingredients that I can't pronounce, or in which animals are senselessly wasted.

It comes in funky orange packaging, has a strong medicinal smell, but man ..it's the best soap I've ever used!

Previous to switching to Dr. Bronner's, I was using some run of the mill Sam's Club body wash. I had problems with back acnie, oil buildup (especially around the nose) and fungus (itching).

I remember washing with it for the first time, not knowing what to expect (if anything). After rising off, I actually felt clean! Those oily areas were no longer oily. Drying off, my skin felt tighter and smoother. As time went on, I noticed that a certain area was a lot less itchy and irritated. My backnie problem went from multiple large sores to one small one at the moment. Same with the face zits are a lot less common and generally smaller. I also had a problem with facial hair becoming partially ingrown, resulting in either zits or inflammation. It was so bad that they would catch my electric razor and start bleeding every time I shaved. Today, I can usually shave without bleeding! I used to have bad chlorine itch after swimming. After washing off with this, I had no problems with chlorine itch.

There are things it's not good for, though. First, it'll strip every bit of oil and crud right out of your hair. Mine becomes a straw-textured, fluffy mess if I just use Bronner's. About once a week, I'll wash my hair with it, then use my normal shampoo/conditioner this prevents product buildup. My hair feels softer and more manageable after doing this.

I would also advise against using it as a hand soap. After multiple uses per day, my hands started peeling because they got so dried out. Oh... and keep it away from the eyes. It really stings.

I ran out of this stuff over Christmas break and couldn't find it locally, so I switched back to the body wash. Sure enough, the backnie returned, along with the fungus and everything else.

What makes it so special anyway?

First, the formulation used is simply effective no filler, no scents, just good soap. Second and most important is the Tea Tree Oil, which is a really good natural antiseptic. This explains its effectiveness with acne, fungus and the like. Secondly, it's very anti-inflammatory, hence the "skin tightening" effect.

I've been buying this soap for years, but I'm afraid this vendor's stock is so old that it completely lost any trace of it's scent. I called the manufacturer (Dr. Bronner's) and they told me it must have been at least 2-3 years old to have no scent remaining. Rather than hassle with the vendor, Dr. Bronner's was nice enough to send me a replacement.

I've discovered that these are stocked at Whole Foods perhaps it is better to buy them where you can see if they are fresh.

So many people have told me how great this soap smells. It lathers well and cleans well and does not dry my skin. The only complaint I have is that it slips through your hands like water. If you aren't careful it will go down the drain quickly. Other than that I love it.

I recently purchased the three pack of KMF refills and am very disapointed with the product. They have changed the product recently. We originally purchased the refill and two pump versions of the foaming liquid soaps after buying a single pump bottle locally. They were very good with the pump producing a thick foam that cleaned your hands well. We just bought more refills and it seems like they have watered down the product. We now have to use two pump strokes to get the same cleaning that we used to get with one pump stroke. The foam is much lighter and as one other reviewer said, you have to be careful not to loose it down the drain before you get to wash your hands. We are running though the bottle at an alarming rate.

We have used the KMF website unsuccessfully to get some satisfaction . They have not returned our email request for a replacement.

Pre de Provence Soap, Set Of 5, Peony, 125 Gram Cello Wrap

Was trying to buy regular bars of soap, which are about 125 grams. These are listed as 125 grams, but that's for THE WHOLE PACKAGE. Nice if you need a lifetime supply of guest soaps.

I misread the description of this product. These soaps are 25 grams EACH! The soaps are about the size of a half-dollar. The quality of the soaps are excellent. I have the larger size (250 grams) in this scent, Peony. It smells lightly floral and clean. This soap lathers better than any other high dollar soap and shower gel I have used in the past. I will keep these tiny soaps and put then in my linen closet, one in my car-under the seat, and other places I want this fragrance. FIVE STARS FOR QUALITY. Will purchase again, but the larger sizes.
