The shampoo bar lathered very well, my hair feels clean. I guess this bar must be super-fatted, because it leaves my hair very nicely 'moisturized.' What a wonderful soap. The great licorice scent is a favorite in our family and the soap really really cleans. The soaps ability to remove odors and not mask them is second to none as we found out after working in the yard during the hot days over the summer. It removes tree sap well and does an amazing job on grease and oil. We've been using it as a shampoo replacement and it leaves hair soft and manageable. This is a large bar of soap that seems to last a long time. We look forward to trying other soaps from Honest Amish. For Men, this and the Honest Amish Beard Balm Leave-in Conditioner is a great combination as both have the wonderful licorice scent. The only way to make this soap better is if they would sell this by the crate.

This is great for washing your hair and being chemical free providing you don't have 50 million products sitting on top of your hair when it's time for a wash. So don't go globbing gel, spraying spritz, grease, and whatever else sold on the shelf on your hair and then go thinking that this bar will help you get all of that excess product out b/c it won't. But, if you're sensible and use just enough oil or whatever you use to keep hair moist this will clean your hair without using harsh detergents such as reg. shampoo. Of all the soaps I have use this is my absolute favorite. The fragrance just gentley awakens me in the morning and soothes me during day. I LOVE it!
This wonderful box of soaps arrived in near perfect condition, which was good as they were a gift. There was only a slight marring of the bottom of the box, and maybe a slight mark on the surface of one of the two boxes. They arrived in a very timely fashion, very well packed.
I wear makeup every day so finding a safe cleanser to get it off with is always what I'm after. Read a lot about the black soap so I decided to give it a try. I read that a lot of people use it for their acne, but I don't have acne or oily skin, it's dry to normal, so I was a little leery about using it. I'm just looking for a really good natural cleanser to remove my makeup effectively. So as far as cleaning my face goes, it effectively removed all my makeup. It also left my face squeaky clean. Never had that happen before. But I question whether that is too drying or not. Well I can't say if that would have totally dried out my face because shortly after washing I put on a thin layer of coconut oil and then my moisturizer. (Night time regime) Now the part I'm having a hard time with is the smell. Oh my, at first it reminded me of a men's cologne and I thought, "well, that's not so horrible" but then it just became sickening to me. The smell does eventually go away. If it weren't for the smell I would have given it five stars because it very effectively cleaned my face.**** Now this is an update to my review. I am still using the black soap cleanser and I don't even notice the smell anymore. I really am liking the black soap cleanser. I'm very happy with it.

I love this stuff. I steam clean my carpet with it, do my dishes with it (the peppermint one), do my laundry, wash my body, Clean the bathroom, tub, etc with it...even wash my dog..he has very sensitive skin and rash on his underbelly all the time and this seems to alleviate the irritation better than dog shampoo. I love the fact that is is harmless to the environment and it takes very little amounts to clean things. It's really emptied the under cabinets in the bathroom and kitchen, as this is the only cleaning agent I own now.

Both of my children were screaming when the soap accidentally got in their eyes (just from splashing in the tub). When researching about black soap I seen in alot of forums people mention that black soap burns slightly and you just have to get used to the product over time. Soooo not the case with me, I first started using DuDu Osun first(no burn sensation) and that work fine and started seeing my face clear which is good with my sensitive skin so I decided to try out black soap in its 'raw' state. When using the raw soap I def.felt the burn instantly, so I figured it was just quality soap...NOPE..After 3 days of using this soap I learned that the soap actually ATE my skin, I was left with Black Scaly Skin on my FACE, NECK, AND BACK which appeared to be scabbed skin(even after applying moisturizer and shea butter still felt scaly). But the product worked wonderfully for my little sister(12yr old)so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE test out the soap on a small area for 3 days to a week before using on whole body especially if you have sensitive skin such as myself (im using dove to correct my skin def.working to fix problem, my skin is practically back to normal, soft and smooth).
