Being a Bay Area, California, native, I am used to non-dry, non-humid, super-controlled, mild climates. With the whole El Nino/La Nina shenanigans happening, we have definitely been facing some extreme weathers (like low 50s temp... lots of rain... semi-strong wind... etc. It's all so horrible)

As a result, my skin has been ridiculously dry, which has led to unbearable itchiness in my rougher spots (feet, ankles, heels, elbows, etc.)

I love Ivory Soap ever since I found out that it's all Brandy (the singer) uses to clean her face (this was back in the late 90s) and it also claims to be 99.9% pure, which is always a nice claim.

I was definitely looking for a moisturizing soap, but was afraid to try Dove or Caress because they didn't claim to be 99.9% pure.

Enter Ivory Soap with Aloe Vera. It smells great AND it seems to be doing the job of keeping me moisturized enough that only a few post-shower lotions a month is all I need to stay non-itchy (This is USEFUL)! It also smells wonderful!

Loccitane Shea Butter Bar Soap 8.8 oz (select type/scent)

I discovered this soap while staying at a luxury hotel last month. I'm a guy who has never thought much about soapin fact I never thought about soap. But the aroma and lathering capability of this soap got my attention. So much so that I brought the hotel bar home with me. I also found that this bar of soap lasts much longer than the basic items I used to buyalmost makes up for the extra cost. The hotel also offered samples of their Verbena shampoo and conditioner. Crabtree & Evelyn Sandalwood Shave Soap Refill

I live to use shaving soap instead of foam creams and this is my favorite soap. I have tried a lot of soaps over the past 20 years and this is by far my favorite. I get a better shave than with cream and i like the way it smells. You also need a good brush and I like the metal bowl instead of the wooden one.

Using a Simpson's best badger brush, washing the face with a face scrub, I was ready for a great shave. I started brushing the soap and I was amazed how quickly it formed a rich lather. This soap forms a lot of lather. However, it doesn't perform as much as it foams up. The beard was not softened up much, and needlessly say the shave was hard. This soap starts up with fireworks, but ends up in disappointment. Steer clear.

Proraso Shave Soap Jar

Short review:

Used with Proraso Pre-Shave Cream and a blade, nothing will give you a closer shave. Your face will be baby smooth all day. You will need a shaving brush too.

Long review:

I bought this because a reviewer said it was better than the Proraso shaving cream in a tube and that reviewer was right. Compared to Proraso cream in the tube, which is still better than anything in a can, this stuff gives me instant lather and is thinner on the face and easier for the blade to get through. I've only tried the soap with Proraso Pre Shave Cream Menthol & Eucalyptus and my Gillette Fusion razor. It is by far the best, smoothest and closest shave I've ever had in my entire life. Nothing comes close. Looking forward to trying this soap with a new Norelco wet/dry I just ordered for shaving in the shower.

Having tried this soap, I will never go back to shaving foam or gel in a can ever again. The difference using the same blade is that dramatic. I find myself stroking my face way to often during the day in disbelief of how smooth my face feels. Boyishly smooth! I used to have 5 o'clock shadow by early afternoon. With the Proraso Pre-Shave Cream, this soap and a Gillette Fusion blade, I don't get 5 o'clock shadow until the next morning. Another thing I've noticed is that the lube strips on the Fusion blade are lasting longer.

You cannot go wrong with this product. Buy it along with the Proraso Pre Shave Cream and a brush.

I've used a few shaving soaps over the years with mediocre results but this one really surprised me. It lathers very well and really protects my sensitive skin. I've used it several times and always with good results. It seems to work a tiny bit better than the Van Der Hagen Glycerin Soap, which is also a great soap and quite a bit cheaper. These two soaps however are light years ahead of the Williams Mug Shaving Soap which I find to be pretty poor. I even prefer this shaving soap to a few of the many creams I've tried. Definitely give this soap a try.

I was bit skeptical when looking for a shaving soap that my sensitive skin on my face could handle. When you use this one you actually feel it going to work on your skin. Also seems like the soap is easily absorbed by the hairs, making them easier to cut. Smells nice. Also seems that it will last a long time. The possibility to cover it, store it and travel with it makes it a plus as well. Definitely buy if you've tried other shaving soaps and have cut yourself a lot because of skin sensitivity.

Been DE shaving for about 1.5 years so I have not tried many soaps; as a full-time grad student, I need to be cost-conscious. I was using and was satisfied with Col. Conk shaving soaps, but wanted to try to upgrade w/o spending much more. This Proraso does seem to give me a better lather than the Col. Conk and seems to work well on my "sensitive skin." Still, not a great lather when compared to a premium shaving soap, but if this is your budget, it works well for what it is. I will order again unless my budget increases:)

Caress makes great soap for the shower or even if you're merely washing your hands. Although I personally consider this product to be soap, officially it's a "moisturizing body bar" variant of soap in that it contains a good amount of moisturizers. Regular soap usually doesn't moisturize; and so Caress tries to set their product apart from soap when they advertise the moisturizing abilities of their product. Rest assured, however, that you will find this item where the rest of the soap is stocked in your grocery store.

The bars of soap are comparatively large but they don't slip out of your hands too easily; the shape of the bar helps you hold onto it. These bars of Caress soap do seem to truly help moisturize my skin when I use them to take a shower or wash my hands. I don't truly understand precisely how "silk proteins" and vitamin E work to moisturize my skin; but in the wintertime when my skin gets rather dry I sure do appreciate being able to use this soap!

The scent is mild but if you are sensitive or allergic to any scent you may want to use an unscented type of Caress soap or a different brand of soap. In addition, if any skin condition is a concern for you, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product.

I really like Caress soap with its moisturizing ability. Caress is a bit more costly; but it's worth it if you want to pamper your dry skin in the shower or at the bathroom vanity sink.

This moisturizing soap is gentle, yet cleansing, and leaves a wonderful aroma after showering. I would certainly recommend it, especially for us senior gals with dry skin.

First off, we love Caress and I've purchased it through Amazon a couple of times. This is a great price over local stores if you can use mass quantities. The only issue I would like to mention is the scent of this particular selection. It is quite strong and pungent in my opinion. Fortunately, it dissipates quickly after you shower or bathe but I found it a bit overpowering initially. This is, of course, a personal opinion and my hubby has not complained, so consider it as that. I love the moisturizing qualities of the brand, especially in the dry, winter months, and have switched from being a committed Zest girl for that reason.

I find the scent of this Icy Blast version of Irish Spring reminds me of the men's cologne Polo Sport. We love Irish Spring bar soap and buy them by the dozens. Compared to other soaps this is a great value and not harsh on my sensitive skin. When I use liquid soap at work my hands become dry, itchy and scaly. Not a problem with Irish Spring soap and I use it all the time. I tried more expensive brands like Dove Beauty Bar and didn't like it better.

This review is for the Icyblast Cool. The scent is so strong and unnatural it made me gag in the shower. Even the thought of taking a shower again made me shudder. (I was on a out of town assignment equipped with only 1 bar of soap that I brought.) The scent is way too much! I stick to the Original Scent from then on. This is the original Fostex soap. I don't know about all this nonsense about "activating" the soap. I just use it on my face with a washrag and warm water. It is excellent for oily type skin and does not clog the pores. It clears up acne and keeps the skin healthy. I have been using it as a facial soap ever since I was a teenager. The ingredients are gentle for sensitive skin. I tried their Sal-3 soap which is a bit stronger and can be irritating to sensitive skin. I will stick with the original because it works. It goes with me wherever I travel.
