Very happy with this soap, it's light, lovely and makes your skin feel smooth! I gave it 4 out of 5 stars since it has an odd smell, more of an earthy smell, but it's not unpleasant, just different. I have very delicate skin and would recommend this soap!
Red Velvet Raspberry Cupcake Bar Soap
It smells nice, but doesn't last on the skin. The picture shows cupcakes which led me to believe the soap was cupcake-shaped, I was ever so slightly disappointed that it was just a regular bar of soap.

I have not used this soap due to the fragrance. It is very strong and smells exactly like dog shampoo. I do not think I will be able to use it. I may try the unscented. I was not expecting such a strongly scented soap.
Carter and Bond Shaving Scuttle with Soap
I shave with a straight razor. Its old fashioned, but its pretty awesome. Instead of buying new blades every month, I only have to resharpen my razor. Soap is cheap too.I decided to replace my old chipped mug that I would mix my lather up in and found this awesome looking scuttle. I'll admit I as much bought it for the name on in as for how it worked... This scuttle maintains heat very well, so your hot water stays hot throughout your shave, and the shape of the bowl allows the hot steam to help soften the soap.
This scuttle ALSO came with a very nice bar of shaving soap to go in the top. The soap is very nice and is a delightful change from my normal "William's Mug" soap. I really like this stuff much better!
My ONLY beef with this scuttle is that the opening into the water area is too small for my regular sized badger bristle brush to really get in there and get soaked. If the mouth was just a tad wider I would have given this a 5/5 rating. As it is, 4/5 for aesthetics, value, and usefulness.

I've only written a couple of reviews about products that I feel particularly passionate about and this is one of them. I purchased this product locally at a very expensive boutique. I just happened to pick it up and was overwhelmed by the scent. It is very strong and berry, just lovely. Anyway, to my delight I wasn't disappointed when I used it. It lathers wonderfully, scent lasts on your skin for quite some time and the soap itself last a very long time. I have found that sometimes the more I pay for a soap the quicker it dissapates. The quality of this soap cannot be beaten. I just happened to google it and found that a Vendor named WOW Health sells it in a 3 pack!!! Even though I haven't purchased it yet, I am certain to in the near future.

Rose is my all-time favorite scent. I know, I'm probably in the minority, because most people I know do not like rose scent, and they say it is "old-ladyish". I love the scent of rose. I have always loved it. Even if it puts me in the "old-lady" category, I don't care. I've loved it since I was a child, and I will never quit loving it. To me, it smells heavenly. I would love it if my whole house and yard smelled like roses.This rose-scented soap is awesome. The smell is awesome, of course, and it also lathers up nicely. It is good-quality soap, the scent, the texture, the lather, the cleansing qualities, everything about it is awesome.
I've had other rose-scented soaps in the past that were stronger scented than this one. But I'm not complaining, because it is strong enough. In fact, after I used it, the whole room had the scent of roses when I went back in. I guess it depends on the size of the room, the humidity in the air, the way the air is blowing, etc. All I know is, the room had that awesome rose smell, and I didn't think the scent of the soap was that strong but when I went back in, I saw how strong it really was.
This soap, to me, is absolutely heavenly.
I give five stars to a lot of products, because they deserve it. But this product deserves a lot more than five stars. This product is "the best of the best".

You can expect the same quality from this bar that Yardley is known for. Usually you can get a bar for about a dollar, but I couldn't find the rose scent lately. I like that yardley does not use sulfates in their soap as well. The shipping speed wasn't too fast and I think the product could be more competitively priced. The scent is not a lasting one..it is a soft rose aroma.Bought this soap for my Aunt who loves Roses, she loves the scent and says it has really helped keep her skin moisturized, feeling softer and much less itchy than it had before. I received the soap on time and in good condition. It smells wonderful in the beginning but after a few use, I can hardly detect any of the rose scent. I like that it is using natural ingredients but I think I will go back to shopping at the discount stores like Home Goods, Marshalls and Ross. They usually have some sort of rose scented soap.

I love the Shea butter moisture for my skin, but the smell is not the best. It's not offensive, but it's not the lingering fragrance I would love to have. Still trying the various fragrances but this one will not be on my "can't wait to reorder list.". Love all the others I've bought and highly recommend this brand.

ANY Pre de Provence soap should be a staple on it's own! I went through my house, my mother-in-law's house and my best friend's house threw away all of the existing bar soap and replaced it with Pre de Provence. After the initial, "you did what?" EVERYONE was hooked. Each bar has a delightful, light scent that won't stink you like other soaps. It's also triple milled which adds to it's quality. Dudu-Osun African Black Soap (100% Pure) Pack of 4
This soap is divine. The black soap is drying so I use the coconut papaya one from Nubian Heritage after I rince off the black soap because it seems to conditions the skin and my skin is less dry. Using the two together has been wonderful. I have 20 year old stretch marks from childbirth that are fading! Anything that can do that is a winner in my book. I thought I would be stuck with those for life and never really tried to do away with them since I thought it was a lost cause. Then I started using these products and I swear in two weeks I started to notice that those stretch marks were fading and some disappeared all together. I told my boyfriend and he said it was placebo effect but then he started to really notice dark spots fading and completely disappearing as well and now he is using the soap too which means now I have to buy more since it is going quite fast. Also got my teen and 22 year old to start using it. Now my bathroom smells like a tropical paradise every time I bathe and now showering is no longer a chore but I actually look forward to the process. And my skin is smooth like a baby.Since the black soap can be drying, I follow up with the coconut papaya soap since it seems to condition the skin. Plus the smell is quite yummy. Sometimes I use Carol's Daughter "Bring back the moisture" liquid soap which is also great and works well with the black soap. Then I rince. I follow-up with organic rose water as a toner, placed on cotton ball then dab over my face and neck. Rose water soothes the skin. I moisture with organic coconut oil. I guess you can use shea butter moisturizer but I like coconut oil. For the body I either use coconut oil or the Coconut Papaya body lotion with vanilla bean extract when I have it. It smells so yummy and is excellent for the skin.
I've been using these products for almost a month and have had excellent results. Dark spots on my face have disappeared from teen acne years, the occassional pimple I used to get is no more and stretch marks on my breasts are gone, the ones on my thighs have faded, not completely gone yet but I took a pic when I noticed they were fading so that I can compare in a month but I can already see they are fading by the naked eye.
For the person who said that if you are light skinned African American not to use this soap because it makes you lighter. I am light skinned AA and the soap didn't turn me into Michael Jackson ghost white or anything. On the other hand, I have noticed that my complexion has evened out since the dark patches and spots are gone. I use the same color foundation that I used before...now just less of it since I don't have to try to cover dark spots since they are gone. Works for people who are not of color aka caucasian as well. My boyfriend is Scandinavian and it works for his skin as well and you don't get whiter skin than that. The soap doesn't know skin color. Also, I don't rub the soap directly on my face since it has stuff in it, I guess for exfoliation and I have sensitive skin so I rub the soap in my hands and get a really good lather then wash my face with my hands that way I'm not rubbing my skin with the bar and causing unnecessary irritation. I think maybe that's why some reviewers are complaining about irritation. Don't put the bar directly on your face and scrub. I never put any bar directly on my face anyway. I do put the bar directly on my body and wash away since my body is less sensitive and can take the scrubbing but if I have just shaved my legs then I lather the soap in a wash cloth and then use the wash cloth to clean so that I won't cause irritation to my freshly shaven legs. I also noticed that the hair on my legs seems to be growing back slower since I've been using this soap. I don't know if the enzymes in the soap is stimulating the hair follicles less or what but I have noticed slower hair regrowth. I don't know if it's a result of the soap or something else but I'm not complaining. The soap is also great for the eh em private parts...especially the coconut papaya...you'll be yummy smelling and delectable all over...don't ask me how I know, just trust me...enough said about that one.
The soap is supposed to be great for tightening the skin and preventing wrinkles. I don't know if this is true since I'm 41 with no wrinkles so far, so I say, cool, don't have none, won't be none especially if I use these products. Win Win!
This soap is a little more expensive than your average chemical filled soap but it's worth it. I was using Dove which I would pay $7 for 8 bars. Now, I pay $10 for 4 with one bar lasting about 3 weeks since now my boyfriend decided to use the soap too and I'm spending a lot more time in the shower with it but it is so much better for my skin so I don't sweat the price. And for those who complain that it discolors white wash clothes..fooey, don't use white wash clothes then! I use dark colored ones and don't have a problem with discoloration. Wash clothes are cheap...you can always replace them and buy more...you only get one skin.

I've been using the soap for a few months now and I did a test, I had a pimple and silly me, I kept picking at and it resulted in a very dark spot on my face once it was gone. Decided this was the perfect time to really see if this removes spots since I had a fresh one. So I continued using the black soap/coconut papaya soap, rosewater as toner, and coconut oil as moisturizer combination and that dark spot is completely gone. It did take 4 weeks but it was very dark. So, these products do remove dark spots.

I have a hormonal disorder and one of the external manifestations is terrible, terrible acne. I went from having clear, perfect, glowing skin, to dry, pimply skin, with lots of black marks in a short period of time. Within two weeks of using Dudu-Osun, my skin looked better than it has in the past year. I really wish I could give this an enthusiastic review, because that would mean that it actually worked for me. I have terrible facial acne and have tried absolutely everything under the sun to treat it for the past six years (Proactiv, Acne Free, other salicylic or benzoyl peroxide producs, Retin-A, antibiotics, taking Zinc tablets, drinking apple cider vinegar, applying tea tree oil, sulfur masks, homemade honey and lemon juice masks)...everything works at first, but soon becomes ineffective.I figured that since everything I've tried is pretty much equally ineffective, I'd just stick to a natural routine. So now my routine is the following: morning: Dudu-osun soap to wash the face, mask of raw or clover honey and fresh lemon juice for 30 minutes, tea tree oil. Night: Dudu-osun, tea tree oil, and sulphur clay mask before bed. Anyone else's skin would be glowing!! Mine is still totally broken out.
But the soap smells nice and lathers well, considering it's natural and has no sulfates. The soap has not made my skin worse, from what I can tell. It just won't cure my acne or lighten my acne scars, which is what other reviewers rave about. Maybe those reviews are fake?
Anyway, three stars for a nice natural soap...no miracles here, though.

I have always had oily troublesome skin that breaks out in everything known to man...pimples, pustules, blackheads, whiteheads and clogged sweat glands. Like some of the other reviewers I have tried almost everything on the market...including the Proactive type products. That stuff caused an allergic reaction and my skin to turn horridly red and thicken for days...not nice!The product has helped a lot. I like the citrus fragrance though it's unusual mixed with the "ash" ingredients. It will make a mess in your tub if you don't keep it dry except when using it.
A small amount makes a super lather that turns almost to a cold cream consistency as you rub. I do recommend that you lather and apply with your hands. It causes a slight "chemical peel" action, so intense scrubbing isn't a good idea, nor is leaving it on for an extended time. And RINSE really well (moisturize if you need it). Using it in the shower is really good, since the rinsing is usually better.
I laughed at the reviewers that suggested this product is somehow for African people. Um...skin is skin and it's SOAP--you need not worry that it will change your color! I'm caucasian and quite fair and it's been working very well for me. I'd like to try it on my hair but a little concerned, since I color my hair, as the soap seems a bit strong.
If you are looking for something to deep clean troublesome skin...this is affordable and does the job better than anything else that I have tried. You still can't skip good skin cleansing at least 2x a day. I can imagine some people with sensitive skin might want to test a bit before throwing themselves into using it frequently. I am giving all my drug store bottles and jars the heave-ho and the black bar has a place in my powder room!

Pros: I have problematic skin, and this stuff helps. Very powerful soap.side note: Smells planty, probably repels mosquitoes. Neem. Look up the benefits.
Cons: Way too expensive to buy regularly, and there is no value pack or subscription discount.
Recommendation: Try it if nothing else helps, but it is not an economically sustainable product at $8 a pop. More of a curiosity purchase. Would buy again if price was lowered, or value pack offered. Lemongrass / teatree soap is a better value, although Neem works better. I can vouch for Tom's and Nubian being acceptable alternatives.

Peace,I lucked out and purchased the liquid version of this by the same company from my local natural food store (Lori's) who happened to be running a sale. I have used the "Liquid African Black Soap 8oz" (version) by Alaffia ON myself and toddler (we are black) as a body cleanser including our faces and hair and it was AMAZING!!!!! The wonderful feel left on our bodies and hair texture was immediately noticed! I am hooked and look forward to trying the rest of the line!First off, it didn't come as pictured. It came wrap in saran wrap with a homemade, printed out a printer label saying raw black soap. We paid for it so we tried it as face soap. It has your skin soft, most people's faces are soft and not rough. ANyway it did nothing for acne bumps. I used it for myself, my hubby, and children because they were having breakouts, and nothing. Waste of money!!

I've tried many different soaps... Not because I have problem skin, but because regular "soaps" (sodium tallowate-based soaps) leave my skin dry and itchy -especially in the winter. While I alternate among various bars, L'Amande has quickly earned a permanent spot on the "rotation" list. The bar works well and produces a medium lather; after using this soap, I require no additional moisturizing.Be forewarned... one bar used regularly by one person will only last a few weeks. Regardless, I do plan on purchasing more. (I do wish the price were less, but a 6.6 oz. bar is rather formidable).

My family has very sensitive skin (eczema, etc.) and I have very dry skin. I've tried many different soap products from wildly expensive to farmers market homemade. Finally, I found L'Amande All Natural Unscented Marseille Soap. This soap leaves you feeling clean without stripping your skin dry. And does not leave soap scum in shower/bath as many soaps with lotion do. My entire family is so pleased with this product. I have used this product in the past, when a friend used to bring it to me from Brazil. It's been a while. I loved this soap because of the wonderful rose fragrance that ultimately gave way to patchoui. The four bars I received smell neither of roses, nor particularly of patchouli. Not sure how to describe it. Dissappointing.
cherry blossom anti-bacterial deep cleansing hand soap
BBW brought this back to stores during their last Semi-Annual Sale, it seems to be available online only much of the time. And I can see why. This hand soap plays off the BBW Cherry Blossom line, one of their well-known floral signature collection fragrances. I can't say that I'm a big fan of Cherry Blossom.I thought the soap would be different. As odd as it may sound, but sometimes BBW scents can vary across different products. The Cherry Blossom hand soap is no exception. Rather than having a full and lovely floral scent in the vein of the Cherry Blossom, instead this soap doesn't really smell like much at all.
The Cherry Blossom hand soap is a subtle, almost non-existent scent with only the vaguest idea of a floral scent. I was a little disappointed that there isn't more here. Cherry Blossom hand soap doesn't have much fragrance and the scent doesn't last very long. I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for something stronger.
